The 4th of July, 2023, is about ten months away, but fireworks are on the agenda for tonight’s meeting of the Neosho City council. Earlier this year, the city requested bids for next year’s city-sponsored fireworks show.
According to documents available at the city’s website nehosomo.org, the town budgeted $15,000 for next year’s show and received two bids, both exceeding the budgeted amount.
Neosho received a $19,950 proposal from Riverside Fireworks of Siloam Springs, Arkansas. And a $25,000 bid from J & M Displays of Yarmouth, Iowa. The display duration will be between 22 and 25 minutes, not exceeding 30 minutes.
Neosho’s fireworks display is scheduled for Saturday, June 24, 2023. Also, to be discussed tonight at the council meeting is whether golf carts should be allowed on Neosho streets.
At a previous city council meeting in May, council members discussed whether a city ordinance defining motorized vehicles, including golf carts. The meeting gets underway at seven tonight at city hall.
