UT Tyler Professor speaks about Civil War battles that took place in the Four States next week

The Four States is rich with history from the Civil War, and next week Crowder College in Neosho welcomes the foremost expert on the topic. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

University of Texas at Tyler professor, Dr. Matthew Stith’s Civil War presentation was scheduled for this past February and was canceled due to winter weather.

No chance of that happening next week as Dr. Stith will speak about the Sutherland Collection. It’s an exhibition of books about the Civil War era donated by Dr. Daniel E. Sutherland, a recently retired history professor at the University of Arkansas and the author or editor of more than fifteen books.

Dr. Stith will present “Hundreds of Little Wars: Community, Conflict, and the Real Civil War in the Ozarks” Stith is an associate professor of history at the University of Texas at Tyler, where he teaches and writes about military and environmental history.

The collection will add to resources in the Lee Library at Crowder College. The event takes place at Crowder’s Wright Conference Center, in the Arnold Fabber building next Thursday at 5:30. It’s free and open to the public.
