Circle Friday, November 11, on your calendar. It’s the day that the Spiva Center for the Arts will hold its public open house at the Harry M. Cornell Arts and Entertainment Complex.
The Spiva will share the new facility with Connect 2 Culture. The new 37,000 square foot, three-floor building includes the 470-seat Beshore Performance hall with a multifunction design that simultaneously allows indoor and outdoor performances.
Director of the Spiva Center Heather Lesmeister is excited about relocating to the Cornell Complex.
“Our first exhibit in our main gallery, in the Freeman Health System Main gallery, will be our membership show. So anybody that’s a member will be able to submit a work of art for us to put up in that show. To me, that’s what it’s all about.”
Private donors raised over 17 million dollars to construct the new facility, which broke ground in February last year.
