The city of Neosho came a step closer Tuesday to separating its Director of Parks position into two positions.
Currently, the city doesn’t have a Park Director, and the city council, at their meeting on Tuesday, discussed whether the position should be split into two.
One that oversees day-to-day operations of the city’s four parks, and another position that would specific to run the city-operated golf course. Council member Angela Thomas speaking Tuesday supports the idea of hiring individuals who have a specialized background.
“To have someone over the golf course that’s not having all the duties over the parks, and all of that would that not be beneficial to the golf course, in my opinion, to help like he said to oversee the things that are going on there and make the golf course more profitable if you have somebody that’s dedicated to working at the golf course.”
Ultimately the Neosho city council approved a motion unanimously, 7 to zero Tuesday, to separate and hire two parks positions.
