We may be mired in the dog days of summer, but the start of MIAA football season is just over a month away. On Tuesday, the conference held its media day for the upcoming season, in addition to releasing the coaches and media preseason polls.

Missouri Southern, who finished with a record of 3 and 8 last season, was selected to finish tenth in both polls. Pittsburg State, which earned an 8 and 3 record, was picked to finish third. PSU head football coach Brian Wright spoke Tuesday and says he’s looking to take the team to the next level this season.
“Great to be here today. We’re excited about the upcoming season. Certainly, building off of a good season. Not a great season and not a season that is up to our standards from a year ago. Felt like we played good football for the most part, but that’s not the goal at Pittsburg State, however.”
Missouri Southern hosts Nebraska-Kearney to open up the season. While Pittsburg State will welcome Central Missouri. Both teams kick off their 2022 schedule on Thursday, September 1st.
