2022 MIAA Football Media and Coaches Poll mirrors 2021 final standings

We’re just over one month away from the start of MIAA football season. The conference held its annual media day in Kansas City on Tuesday. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

Preseason coaches and media polls were released on Tuesday and nearly mirrored each other.

Pittsburg State, who finished 8 and 3 last season, was selected in both polls to finish third in the MIAA. The Gorillas also received one first-place vote in both polls.

While Missouri Southern, who earned a 3 and 8 record in 2021, is calculated to finish 10th this upcoming season. Southern head football coach Atiba Bradley spoke Tuesday and says he’s looking to build on last season’s successes.

“When I took this job about 18 months ago, I knew it was a process. I knew it was something that was going to require a lot of time and energy. And it paid off, and we took some steps to really start to turn this thing around.”

Pittsburg State will open its season hosting Central Missouri, while Missouri Southern will host Nebraska-Kearney. The season opens for both teams on Thursday, September 1st.
