A forum scheduled for tonight in Pittsburg, (Kansas) to discuss the constitutional amendment regarding abortion rights on the August 2nd primary ballot has been canceled. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

In a one-line statement to the media Tuesday, the city of Pittsburg expressed that the panel had been canceled due to, unforeseen circumstances. The roundtable was scheduled to take place at the Pittsburg Law Enforcement Center tonight, hosted by KOAM-TV news anchor Dowe Quick.
Forum organizer Bert Patrick had assembled a balanced panel of six individuals, including doctors and clergy members, to discuss the constitutional amendment Kansas voters will decide August 2, which could determine whether abortion will remain legal in the state. Patrick spoke with me last week regarding the event.
“What we need to do or try to do is to listen to those who may have an opinion that is different from ours.” Before its complete cancellation, organizers were undecided whether it would include in-person spectators.
Patrick did not return a request for comment on Tuesday.
