The housing market continues to boom in southwest Missouri, but will the market even itself out as more sellers enter the market? KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

A short drive around any community in southwest Missouri, and you will encounter house after house after house up for sale.
According to a recent report by Rockethomes.com there are 66.9 percent more homes for sale this year than last. Also, the cost of purchasing some homes has increased, by more than 100%.
The average price for a single-bedroom home in Joplin in 2021 was $25,000, which has now doubled to $50,000. Meanwhile, two and three-bedroom houses haven’t experienced that kind of significant price increase, but two bedroom home prices are up 3.5 percent, and three bedrooms are up 8.7 percent.
While the average sale time has dropped from 16 days in 2021 to just two days this year. The median price to purchase a home in Joplin is just over $133,000, an increase of $8,250 or 6.6% over last year.
