Kansas Senator Jerry Moran made a stop in Pittsburg on Friday at the Beard Shanks Law Enforcement Center. Senator Moran was in town to announce that the city had received 3.5 million dollars in federal funding to help build an updated wastewater treatment facility.
Moran said that this project was a good use of federal dollars because of federal regulations. “In most places across Kansas, especially in small cities, the capability of the local ratepayer or taxpayers to afford the federal requirements exceeds the capability of the community and their citizens.”
The new wastewater treatment plant is estimated to cost 40 million dollars. Moran also announced Friday that the Pittsburg Police Department received $235,000 to help update the department’s training technology.
