Now that the spring semester has come to a close and summer draws near, Pittsburg State President Steve Scott isn’t calling it a retirement, though he is looking forward to some time off.
About 100 friends, faculty, and staff, gathered in front of PSU’s Russ Hall Friday for Scott’s final send-off as President. He announced last July that he would be stepping down. The Bicknell Family Center for the Arts was one of the major projects completed during Scott’s time as President.
Joe Firman, Director of the Bicknell, shared this story Friday about Scott. “When I first met Dr. Scott, one of the first things we talked about was how we would integrate all of the students into the Bicknell Center for the Arts. And every interaction afterward always about the students. About the culture of Pitt State. And about wonderful the people were. And to see one of the most wonderful people driving away is pretty emotional.”
Scott served as President for 13-years. Last month, Daniel Shipp was named PSU’s 10th President. He starts on Monday June 6.
