Missouri 7th District Congressman Billy Long has enjoyed wide margins of victory since he was first elected to the position. In 2012’s general election, Long crushed Democratic contender Jim Evans by nearly 34 percent.
This election season, 12 candidates from three parties are running to earn Long’s Congressional seat, and Long announced that he would run for the US Senate. The field includes three Democrats, including former Republican turned Democrat John Woodman.
He says a turning point for him was when the GOP questioned the authenticity of former President Barack Obama’s birth certificate.
“I ended up doing a full investigation of Barack Obama’s birth certificate. I never found a shred of evidence that there was anything wrong with it. In fact, every, every bit of evidence that I found only confirmed its authenticity.”
Bryce Lockwood and Kristen Radaker-Sheafer are also running to earn Missouri’s 7th Congressional Seat. The final day to register to vote in the primaries is Tuesday, July 6. Primary election day is August 2.
