Angela Thomas was sworn in for another three-year term, and Carl Cobb was sworn in for the second time as a Neosho City Council member last night. Cobb also served on the Council in the mid-’90s.
On its third reading Tuesday, the Council passed a significantly reduced amount for Branco Enterprises, which holds the annual Neosho High School Basketball tournament every year between Christmas and New Year. New council member Cobb asked why the drop from a $15,000 package to $7,500.
Councilmember Collingsworth offered this explanation, “Council voted down the $15,000 twice, and there was a compromise. Council wanted to bring forth, and it was a consensus of Council to do that, and that’s why it’s back before us.”
The Neosho city council approved financial incentives for the Holiday Classic by a vote of 7 to 0.
