
April has been a busy month at Pittsburg State. On April 1st, the university held a retirement celebration for outgoing President Steve Scott. Last week, the Kansas Board of Regents selected Scotts’ replacement, Daniel Shipp, in a gathering at the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts.
Yesterday, PSU held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new simulation hospital addition to McPherson Hall and a new home to the Irene Ransom Bradley School of Nursing.
Vice president for university advancement and president of the PSU Foundation Kathleen Flannery speaking Thursday, “We’ve always known that PSU nursing programs have the potential to grow. The simulation hospital brings so much to our school and the university.
The project will include new construction of an approximately 10,000-square feet addition, plus targeted renovations of roughly 14,000 square feet in the existing building. It will accommodate groupings of 120 students; currently, there are 90. Construction is expected to be completed in August of 2023.
