One Joplin receives quarter-million-dollar donation to support 200+ organizations

Joplin’s largest employer, with over 4,500 employees, made a significant donation Tuesday to a local non-profit. Freeman Health System announced a 225,000 dollar contribution to One Joplin. The organization has over 200 community partners, including Crosslines, Soul’s Harbor, and Watered Gardens.

Nicole Brown, Executive Director of One Joplin, spoke at Tuesday’s press conference. “One Joplin exists to facilitate and coordinate collaboration and communication among area agencies and community members focused on health, human services, literacy, and poverty. One work can best be summarized by a quote from Margret Mead. Never underestimate the power of a small group of committed people to change the world. In fact, it is the only thing that ever has.”

Freeman will pay out the 75,000 dollar donation over the next three years. One Joplin was born out of the 2011 tornado.
