In-person voting for city council and school board elections in Missouri take place next Tuesday. Voters in Carthage will have an opportunity to meet and hear from candidates tomorrow. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.
The Carthage Chamber of Commerce is holding an in-person candidate forum Tuesday night. Candidates for both school board and city council will be on hand. Two, three-year seats are open on the Carthage school board. Candidates include Ryan Collier, Garrell Dry, and Niki Cloud. Nathan Cloud is running unopposed for the lone, two-year seat on the school board. In Carthage city council elections, Two candidates are running in Ward 1, Brandi Ensor and Maria D. Marroquin. In Ward Two, Trudy Blankenship is running unopposed.
Meanwhile, two candidates are running in Ward 3, Mike Daugherty and Robin Blair. In Ward Four, Ed Hardesty, Craig Diggs, and Aaron McDonald are challenging each other. In Zone Five, Shawn McGrew is taking on Mark Elliff. Each of the Ward seats is for a two-year term. Finally, Dan Rife is taking on David Flanigan for the four-year term as Carthage mayor. The candidate forum gets underway tomorrow night at 6 pm at the Carthage Water & Electric Plant Community Room located at 627 W. Centennial Ave. It’s open to the public.
