This evening, starting at 5 pm, the Memorial Hall Committee will hold a Q and A session for those wanting more information related to Question 1 on next month’s ballot. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

Have you seen the signs around Joplin urging you to vote yes on Question 1? Question 1 on April 5, 2022, Municipal Election ballot asks voters if they would authorize the City of Joplin to issue general obligation bonds not to exceed $30,000,000 to renovate and expand Memorial Hall.
If voters approve the initiative, the bond debt will be paid through assessing real property and personal property taxes. For an average $100,000 home in Joplin and a $20,000 vehicle, the estimated monthly cost is $6.20.
Citizens interested in learning more about the proposed renovation of Joplin Memorial Hall are invited to an Open House from 5 pm to 6:30 pm tonight at Joplin Avenue Coffee Company, located at 506 S. Joplin Avenue. The meeting will be held in an open house format, so people can come and go as their schedules allow. For more information, visit joplinmo.org/MemorialHall.
