Lead Forecaster with the National Weather Service Office in Springfield, Missouri Steve Lindenburg says that we’ll likely experience thunderstorms tonight, then snow and ice Wednesday and Thursday with a chance of tornadoes. “Probably not in your area, but I can’t rule it out completely over South Central Missouri toward Tuesday morning. It looks like mainly a wind and hail event, but I’m not going to rule out an isolated tornado if we can get some surface-based storms developing.”

Lindenburg, with the National Weather Service, says that it’s difficult to determine just how much rain, snow, or ice accumulation the area will receive. We are a little more than two weeks from Severe Weather Preparedness Week and the Missouri statewide tornado drill on Tuesday, March 6.
