New COVID cases declining in SW Missouri, free testing sites still available

New cases of COVID-19 appear to be declining in Joplin and greater Jasper County. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

Data available Wednesday at AllThingsMissouri.org show that new COVID cases have declined by over 54% in Joplin and nearly 44% in greater Jasper County over the past two weeks. While the Missouri Department of Health dashboard yesterday displayed an average COVID positivity rate of 21.5%, with 28 confirmed deaths to the disease over the past seven days. Today’s Missouri Department of Health COVID testing site at Central Christian Church has been canceled.

Free COVID testing is available Friday in Buffalo, Missouri, from 10 am until 6 pm at the Family Life Center at 305 N. Pine St in Buffalo, MO. No-cost testing is also available this Saturday at Central Christian Center church in downtown Joplin also from 10 am until 6 pm.
