The number of COVID-19 patients at Freeman Health System in Joplin continues to creep up. One month ago, prior to Thanksgiving, the hospital reported 13 patients. Two weeks ago that number had risen to 20, and on Wednesday, Freeman President and CEO Paula Baker said doctors were caring for 23 COVID patients, with one on a ventilator.
Freeman’s Infection Prevention & Control Manager Jessica Liberty says she’s planning a drive-thru vaccination clinic next Wednesday. “On December 22, we have a Pfizer clinic, booster, or second dose clinic offered from 9 to 1. And then we have a pediatric clinic from 2:30 to 5 pm, on the same day. It is for all eligible children between the ages of 5 and 11.” Liberty also says that Freeman is offering a Moderna COVID booster clinic on Wednesday, December 29, between 2:30 and 5 pm.
