Earlier this year residents of Joplin, Missouri marked the 10th anniversary of the tornado that destroyed a quarter of the city. Jeff and Nicole Carney, owners of Bacon Me Krazy in Joplin had their home damaged in the storm. When they saw the news of the severe weather in Kentucky they didn’t think twice to act.
Later this morning, Jeff will drive their food trailer directly to Mayfield to serve up hamburgers, fries, and provide cold drinks for survivors. The couple is still touched by the kindness of strangers over ten years ago. “Well, we were in the Joplin tornado and, you know, our house was damaged and my wife and I remember, waking up one day and there were just a ton of people in our backyard, cleaning up the debris and we went out there talking to them. And there were people from Florida and New York and Kentucky.” The couple has sent up a Go Fund Me page for donations. Jeff also says that they are still accepting donations at their restaurant Bacon Me Krazy.
