The theme of the parade this year is “Cruisin’ To Christmas” to celebrate one of Joplin’s most famous attractions, Route 66. The mother road stretches from Chicago through Joplin to Santa Monica, California. Freeman Health System, who is hosting the parade, and officials with the city of Joplin want to remind you that parking on Main street in downtown Joplin will not be allowed starting at 10 a.m Tuesday.

Also, accessible parking will be available at 8th and Main Street. In addition, Main Street from 15th Street to 26th Street will close at 3 p.m. for staging the 100-plus entries in the event. This closure also includes all intersections. Starting at 4:30 p.m., the closure of Main Street will expand north to 2nd Street. Because of these closures, the stops for the Sunshine Lamp Trolley will experience temporary changes. The parade lineup will be listed on Freeman’s Facebook later today. The Joplin Christmas parade starts Tuesday night at 6. For 89 9 KRPS. I’m Fred Fletcher-Fierro
