A former Joplin Schools middle school teacher was sentenced Monday to 20-years in federal prison. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

42-year-old Amanda Ruth Schweitzer was arrested on April 7, 2017, at North Middle School. Over three years later on June 17 of last year, Schweitzer plead guilty to charges which included enticing one of her underage students to have sex with her. The former middle school teacher sent nude photos of herself, the 13-year old victim also sent at least one nude photo of himself in response and the two had sexual intercourse on at least two occasions at her home in Joplin.

In Springfield on Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Roseann Ketchmark sentenced Schweitzer to 20 years in federal prison without parole.
