Speaking on Wednesday, White House coronavirus coordinator Dr. Jeff Zients said that nearly 10% or 28 million of all American youth between the ages of 5 and 11 have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine only two weeks after the vaccine was approved. Tomorrow, Freeman Health System will hold a COVID-19 vaccine clinic specifically for kids between 5 and 11 years old.

Pediatric nurses will serve as vaccinators with a pediatrician available to observe and answer parent questions. Walk-in appointments will be available for the clinic although you are encouraged to make an appointment by calling 417-502-SHOT. The clinic will be held Saturday from 8 am until 12 noon at the Freeman Business Center located at 3220 McClelland Blvd in Joplin. For 89 9 KRPS, I’m Fred Fletcher-Fierro
