November is National Family Caregivers Month, as nearly 30% of Americans provide care for another family member or friend. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

Later this week Freeman Health System in Joplin will host their monthly caregiver support group meeting. More than 65 million people nationwide provide some kind of care for a chronically ill, disabled, or aged family member or friend for an average of 20-hours per week. The group will be facilitated by Freeman’s Ozark Center Assistant Director of Adult Outpatient Services Jennifer Berry.

This month the special guest speaker is attorney Luke Boyer from the Boyer Law Firm to discuss options for planning a trust or will. He will also talk about the importance of having power of attorney documents. The Freeman Caregiver Support Group will meet this Thursday from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at Freeman East conference rooms. Physical distancing and mask-wearing will be practiced. For more information call 417-347-8463. For 89 9 KRPS, I’m Fred Fletcher-Fierro
