On Tuesday, the Better Business Bureau of St. Louis issued a scathing report about well-known Vehicle Service Companies headquartered in Missouri. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

If you stream, watch TV, or YouTube it’s likely that you’ve seen one of these commercials promoting a certain Vehicle Service Company. “Hey everyone. Today is an exciting day. I’m joined by my old friend Mr. Ellis Williams, aka Mr. Bigs….) That is the rapper turned TV actor Ice T in a commercial for Car Shield. The company based in Cottleville, Missouri had 1,617 complaints between 2018 and 2020 detailing the lengths the company will go to fraud consumers.

The report details stories of customers paying a monthly fee, being sold piece of mind that the company would repair their vehicle regardless of the cost. But when customers call to report a claim with Car Shield, they are either outright denied, or only partially paid several months later, leaving consumers on the hook with the repair bill.
