Good Friday Morning, thanks for joining me for Up First in the Four States, from KRPS. I’m Fred Fletcher-Fierro. Let’s first take a look at local weather,

Cloudy start to our Friday throughout the Four States, with a remaining chance of rain this morning until 2 this afternoon, with highs only in the lower ‘60s. Clear skies tonight, and the coolest it’s been in some months, lows in the lower ‘40s. Sunny, mild and nice over the weekend. Highs Saturday in the mid ‘60s, warming into the lower ‘70s on Sunday.

Former Kansas Democratic Congressman Dan Glickman says more compromisers are needed in Washington to end political gridlock. Glickman, who also served as U.S. Ag Secretary, spoke last night at the University of Kansas.

A Missouri reporter who found vulnerabilities on a state-run website could now face criminal prosecution after alerting state officials of the issue.

Republicans in the Kansas Legislature say they may consider restrictions on using state funding for some controversial books in schools.

U-S Senator Roy Blunt says the federal government needs to increase its support for expansion of high speed internet into rural locations.

A federal judge is deciding whether to suppress evidence in a case involving a K-U professor whom the government accuses of failing to disclose his ties to China.

If you visit Springfield, MO over the next few days, you’ll notice some changes along South Street from McDaniel to Walnut downtown starting today.

Three Johnson County law enforcement agencies are getting hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal money to create crisis intervention teams.
