Speaking at the Joplin city council meeting Monday night, Health Director Ryan Talken said that the city and its residents were headed in the right direction when it came to newly reported cases of COVID-19. “Our cases are trending down. With a 21% decrease week over the week we’re averaging about 11 cases per day, last time I reported 15 cases per day. Our hospitalizations are also trending downward”.

According to the website, AllThingsMissouri.org Joplin has experienced an over 40% decrease in the number of new COVID infections in the past two weeks. The city leads the state in the number of residents who have initiated a vaccine at over 61%, and have completed their inoculations with over 55%.
