Missouri is nearing 13,000 COVID-19 related deaths, has more than 40 people a day die of the disease despite vaccines that are proven to prevent death and serious illness being widely available. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.
According to the latest information published by Data Researcher Mathew Holloway over the past 10 days, an average of over 42 people have died from complications of COVID-19, including 28 last Friday. According to Holloway, the number of new cases in the state spiked last week at nearly 4,700. Missouri is averaging about 2,700 new cases of COVID-19 per day.
On the vaccination front, nearly 53% of residents have received at least one dose, with 46.7% completing their vaccinations. Joplin continues to be a bright spot for Missouri in vaccinations with over 61% of residents getting one shot, and 54.7% being fully vaccinated.
