The number of new COVID-19 cases is on the rise in Missouri. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

According to his latest COVID-19 update for last Friday, September 10, data researcher Mathew Holloway Missouri added another 4,681 new cases of COVID-19. That was a sharp rise in the number of new cases. Four of the previous ten days saw new COVID under 1,600. The number of deaths attributed to the disease has also started to climb.
Holloway reports that last week saw four days of 11 residents dying from COVID per day, while Friday of last week saw that number shoot up to 60. The rolling 7-day average of deaths due to COVID from this past June through last week is just over 36 per day. This while 52.5% of Missouri residents have received one dose of a COVID vaccine with 46 % being fully vaccinated. For 89 9 KRPS, I’m Fred Fletcher-Fierro
