Springfield-Greene Health Department in the community to get residents vaccinated

Starting today, the Springfield-Greene County health department will be visiting community partners as part of a weeklong vaccination effort. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

The percentage of Springfield-Greene county residents who are vaccinated against COVID-19 has lagged. According to the Missouri Department of Health on Monday, 45.8% of Springfield-Greene County residents have received their first dose, while over 52% of Missouri residents and 62.5% of residents nationwide have received their first dose.

Starting today, the Springfield-Greene County Health Department will be visiting apartment complexes, fire stations, and even Mother’s Brewing company to reach those individuals who perhaps have been too busy to get vaccinated. Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be provided at the more than 20 clinics that will be held the remainder of the week. COVID-19 vaccines are free for everybody over the age of 12, no appointment or registration is required. Visiting vaccine417.com to find a clinic near you anywhere in Southwest Missouri. For 89 9 KRPS, I’m Fred Fletcher-Fierro.
