Summer is winding down, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of things to do this weekend. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

If you’re looking to get out of the house and relax with nature, then you’ll love the Shoal Creek Water Festival taking place tomorrow at Wildcat Glades. It’s a day full of fun in Shoal Creek that starts with a Kid’s Fishing Derby and Inner tube, swim or float, both events start at 9 AM. More info at WildCat Glades dot org.
Maybe you love the outdoors but you prefer to stay inside, then visit the George Washington Carver National Monument who are hosting the program, “Who Was George Washington Carver?” this Saturday at 11 AM. For more info, visit their Facebook page at George Washington Carver NM. To wrap up the day, you don’t want to miss the final weekend of Connect 2 Culture’s JOMO Jammin’ series featuring Lem Sheppard and JOMO Jazz. Saturday at 7 PM at Joplin’s Mercy Park. For more info or to reserve your spot visit Connect 2 Culture dot org. For 89 9 KRPS, I’m Fred Fletcher-Fierro
