Health officials for the city of Joplin on Monday announced the deaths of four residents from complications of COVID-19. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.
The Joplin Department of Health Monday reported four additional deaths due to COVID-19. The residents who passed included two females, ages 63 and 71; and two males, ages 63 and 67. Since last Thursday, Joplin has reported nine deaths due to the disease that has now claimed a total of 153 residents. According to data researcher Mathew Holoway’s COVID-19 Update, Missouri reached a recent peak of new cases with nearly 4,500 last Wednesday with 61 deaths due to the disease one week ago. The state Department of Health Monday reported 49.2% of residents have received at least one dose of a vaccine with just over 42% completing their inoculations. 9,828 Missouri residents have died of COVID-19.
