Joplin’s art and entertainment non profit, Connect 2 Culture will celebrate a milestone Friday morning

Joplin’s art and entertainment non profit, Connect 2 Culture celebrated a milestone this morning, in addition to hosting a concert on Saturday evening at Mercy Park. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

Connect 2 Culture held a private, “Topping Out” ceremony this morning at The Cornell Complex in downtown Joplin. Topping Out is a builders’ rite traditionally held when the final beam on any steel structure is set, marking a major milestone in the structure’s construction. The 37,000 square foot Cornell Complex broke ground February 1st of this year and is expected to be completed in late 2022 and be the new home for C2C and the Spiva Center for the Arts.

Also, on Saturday Connect 2 Culture will host another Jomo Jammin’ concert at Mercy Park. This weekend’s genre is bluegrass as Route 3 and Borderline Bluegrass will perform starting at 7. There’s no charge to attend the performance, but to reserve your spot and for more information visit connect2culture.org
