Joplin police announced an arrest Tuesday, the suspect is tied to at least five burglaries this month. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

29-year-old Bradley C. Shafer was apprehended Sunday night around 8:30 after police were alerted to a break-in at the First Baptist Church at 41 St. and Connecticut in Joplin. A silent alarm alerted officers to the church who were getting ready to clear the facility when Shafer fled on foot. He was apprehended by a Joplin PD K9. Shafer, a homeless resident of Joplin is tied to at least five burglaries, including New Hope Church, St. Phillips Episcopal Church and South Joplin Christian Church this past weekend.
Joplin Police are working with the Newton County Sheriff’s Department on the continuing investigation. No charges have been filed against Shafer and he remains in custody in the Newton County jail. For 89 9 KRPS, I’m Fred Fletcher-Fierro
