The weekend is upon us, and there are many activities and events taking place throughout the Four States. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.
Taking place tonight, tomorrow night, and Sunday afternoon at Joplin’s Stain Glass Theater. The original cast of Southern Friend Funeral will be performing the show’s sequel, titled, Southern Fried Nuptials. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7 pm. Sundays at 2:30 pm.
Celebrate Missouri’s bicentennial by seeing, Missouri Art Now: A Bicentennial Celebration at the Spiva Center for the Arts in Joplin. This traveling exhibition consists of 60 diverse works by 60 artists from throughout Missouri. The Spiva is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12 pm to 5. Staying cool and inside, drop by the Post Art Library inside of the Joplin Public Library to check out, ‘C is for Color’, a special exhibit intended for children, by local artist Connie Miller. The gallery is hung at children’s eye level, ensuring that kids of all ages can enjoy this series of colorful acrylic paintings depicting some of their favorite animals. ‘C is for Color’ is on display at the Joplin Public Library, now through August 31.
