
Today, the final Monday in May, Memorial Day, we honor and remember military personnel who have died in performing their military duties. This morning there are numerous remembrances including one here at Pittsburg State which gets underway at 10 am. Today’s keynote speaker (Ret.) Col. Donald Woolfolk, a native of Pratt, Kansas. He’s now in his 13th year as the deputy director of intelligence, Navy Special Warfare Command. Woolfolk received his commission in 1972 through the ROTC program at Pittsburg State University, where he earned a bachelor’s in business administration. The event will be at the Veteran’s Memorial, located at 1909 South Rouse St at PSU, starting this morning at 10.
American Legion Post 13 of Joplin will also hold a ceremony this morning, at Mount Hope Cemetery, located at 3700 N. Range Line Road in Webb City. A remembrance will also take place at the Neosho Patriots Memorial, in Neosho, Missouri. The Memorial is located at the south end of La Questa Drive at Highways 59 and 60.
