New Covid case, up or down? That’s difficult to say

The decline of the number of new Covid 19 cases in the past two-week is over. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

Right now, it’s difficult to determine how many fewer Missouri residents are not being vaccinated due to the CDC/FDA and the Missouri Department of Health earlier this week pulling the Johnson and Johnson one shot Covid vaccine from being used. In previous weeks in Joplin, there was a constant decline in the number of new cases. But according to the latest data from, those numbers are now flat. Joplin is averaging about four new cases per day, with a high of 11 new cases one day this week. Statewide, there is over a 13% increase in the number of new Covid cases and ten deaths due to the disease in the last seven days. Nearly 33% of Missourians have received one Covid vaccine shot, with 21.8% completing their inoculations. For KRPS, I’m Fred Fletcher-Fierro in Webb City
