Missouri Governor Mike Parson visited Joplin on Thursday. KRPS’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.
Parson, Joplin Mayor Ryan Stanley, and Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce President Toby Teeter cut the ribbon on the new Casey’s Distribution Center in Joplin. The warehouse added 125 jobs to the region and was built at the cost of $62 million dollars. The location is Casey’s third distribution center and will serve between 400 and 600 stores in the midwest and south. Darren Rebelez, president and CEO of Casey’s, was also on-hand, saying that the distribution center in Joplin is key to the company plan for accelerated store growth over the next two years. The two other distribution centers the company operates are in Iowa and Indiana. The first Casey’s General Store opened in 1967 outside of Des Moines, Iowa. The company operates over 2,100 stores in 17 states. For KRPS, I’m Fred Fletcher-Fierro in Webb City
