Scammers target teens where they live. On their phones.

According to a study released this month by Statista Research Development, there are over 385,000 apps available for just Android devices. The Google app industry grew around 5 percent in the 3rd quarter of last year. In November of 2020, the Better Business Bureau released a report detailing how pervasive online scammers target teens through online games. Stephanie Garland of the Better Business Bureau in Springfield. “The Better Business Bureau, we completed a study on Android devices on teen usage of Android devices last year. And what we found is that they are hugely targeted on gaming apps specifically on the phone on these kinds of apps, on Android devices.” Over the past nine years, the number of teens who own a cell phone has grown by 89 percent. Also, 82 percent of apps targeted at teens are supported by ads.
