The Golden Apple Award looks to recognize excellence in teaching in Joplin schools

Teaching was already a challenging profession, but add the pandemic and day-to-day issues it has caused, and this past year has been one like no other. Perhaps you know of a special educator in Joplin that would like to celebrate and nominate for the 2021 Golden Apple Award. Erin Slifka is with the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce; explains who is eligible. “The nominee must be a certified classroom teacher. Who instructs students on a daily basis. They may teach at grade level from kindergarten thru the 12th grade. They must be teaching during the 2020-2021 school year at a public or private school in Joplin. And they may not be a previous recipient of The Golden Apple Award” The deadline to nominate a Joplin teacher is Monday, February 1st. You can find more information at JoplinCC.com/golden apple
