Meeting the need this holiday season during a pandemic

Christmas is two weeks away, and there is still plenty of time to register as a Bell Ringer or make a donation to the Salvation Army of Jasper and Newton Counties. K R P S’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

The organization this year is trying something new. Rather than dropping Christmas gift donations off at their facility on 8th Street in Joplin, you can purchase them online through Walmart’s Gift Registry and have them delivered instead. Lieutenant Marty Norris explains,1 “This is a new thing we’re trying this year, it’s called Registry for good. It’s set up through Walmart. You just go into the gift registry section and pull up the registry for good for the Salvation Army. We have a list of toys that are on there, and all they have to go is just one shopping, and pick what they would like to buy for.” To purchase gifts online through Walmart gift registry, visit, click the column on the left-hand side and scroll down to registry. The Salvation Army of Jasper and Newton counties are also looking for volunteer bell ringers. Find more information out about that Or call them at 417-624-4528
