Jasper and Newton County Salvation Army: Working To Meet The Public Need

Christmas is two weeks away, and there is still time to make an impact with a gift to the Salvation Army of Newton and Jasper counties. K R P S’s Fred Fletcher-Fierro has more.

The pandemic this year has changed nearly everything about our day to day lives. But one thing that hasn’t changed is the work that the Salvation Army in Southwest Missouri is doing to meet the needs of the less fortunate. Prior to being assigned to Newton and Jasper counties, Lieutenant Marty Norris was assigned to Chicago and Iowa. He says, if you wanted to be a bell ringer for the Salvation Army, now is a great time to sign-up. “Oh, we are definitely in need of volunteers. Our slower days are Tuesday through Thursday. If we can really get people out those days that would be great. Cause every little bit of help of ringing can help us reach our goal for this year.” According to Norris, the Salvation Army is taking all of the C D C precautions, including providing masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, and face shields for volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering your time to become a Salvation Army Bell Ringer, visit RegisterToRing.com. For K R P S, I’m Fred Fletcher-Fierro in Webb City
