On Tuesday, presumptive presidential nominee Joe Biden announced his running mate, California Senator Kamala Harris. The announcement is on the heels of primary elections taking place last week in Missouri, one in which Amendment 2 passed expanding Medicaid, which will take place on July 1st of 2021. With one Democrat holding statewide office, Auditor Nicole Galloway, who is also running for Governor, could we see the political winds blowing in the Democrats favor this November? On Wednesday afternoon, I spoke with Krista Stark, Executive Director of the Southwest Missouri Democrats, to find out more about the response of Kamala Harris.
The Democrats will start their four-day convention beginning on Monday, August 17. The Republicans start their convention the following Monday. Both conventions will be virtual because of the pandemic. With the VP choice announced and about 80 days before the Presidential election, I asked Krista if she was looking forward to seeing anyone speak next week.
