‘The Rundown’ News Headlines from KRPS for 07.14.20

Kansas education officials will release safety guidelines for in-person instruction during the pandemic later this week. 

With a unified voice, the Springfield City Council passed an ordinance Monday night making it mandatory for people older than 11 to wear a face covering. 

The city of Joplin is hoping to slow the spread of the coronavirus as the cities mask ordinance went into effect Saturday morning at 6. The Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce is working with local businesses to provide signage to inform customers that they must wear masks upon entering. 

The Kansas State Fair Board voted on Monday to cancel this year’s fair. Two weeks ago, the board voted to move forward with the fair. 

Recent public Missouri polling data is showing President Donald Trump leading Vice President Joe Biden by a narrower margin than when he won the Show-Me State’s electoral votes in 2016.

The 2nd Congressional District in Kansas runs north to south, encompassing the cities of Topeka, Lawrence and Leavenworth. Republican Steve Watkins is in his first term and facing two challengers in the August 4th primary.
