The top prosecutor in Douglas County ⁠— which includes Lawrence ⁠— will no longer charge people for merely possessing marijuana. District Attorney Charles Branson says Lawrence already dropped the fine for possession to a dollar.

Soldiers at Fort Leonard Wood are testing new technology that could help save lives after a terrorist attack or natural disaster. Saint Louis Public Radio’s Jonathan Ahl reports the equipment could be used by both the military and civilian first responders.

Affluent suburban districts usually do well when the state issues report cards for schools. That’s why some parents will be surprised to see the word “floor” on their district’s report card.
