Former U.S. attorney for Kansas Barry Grissom has dropped out of the crowded race to fill Republican Senator Pat Roberts’ seat in D.C. Celia Llopis-Jepsen of the Kansas News Service has more.

Two sisters set off on a leisurely kayak trip down the Ar-Kansas River in south-central Kansas this summer and ended up discovering a giant grizzly bear skull. Ashley and Erin Watt found the only known grizzly bear fossil ever discovered in the state sticking out of a sandbar.

Some rural Missouri school districts are looking to after-school programs to add science and technology opportunities for their students. David Russell is the superintendent of the Success School District in south central Missouri.
