The Kansas Small Business Development Center at Pittsburg State is anything but small. The staff at the SBDC seeks to help small business owners with everything from answering questions about their business taxes, to learning Quickbooks and social media marketing for your business. But even the SBDC at Pittsburg State isn’t all business, all of the time. Dacia Clark and Mindy Lee recently traveled to Long Beach, California to attend the 39th annual national conference for small business development centers. This year the conference had over 1,300 attendees and 140 workshops spread out over the four day event.

Attending a national conference serves many purposes such as meeting other professionals from small business development centers throughout the country to see how others tackle similar issues. In addition, attendees were able to take part in up to 9 workshops a day that were specifically tailored to topics such finances and marketing relating to operating a small business.
Dacia and Mindy will be back in action later this month hosting four seminars in September and three more in early October. Taking place on Wednesday, September 18 starting at 8:30 am Dacia is leading a Quickbooks (Desktop only) class that will teach how to input your businesses financial information into the program so that you can the most out of your investment.

Taking place the following week on Tuesday September 24 at Neosho Community College in Chanute, Kansas both Dacia and Mindy will both be in action. Mindy will lead things off at 8:30 am with Social Media for your Business which will be followed at 10:30 am with a class focused on Online Marketing. The day will be capped off by Dacia assisting small business owners in Understanding Financial Statement at 1 pm. Topics that will be covered include P&L, cash flow, financial projections and how to help prepare you in getting a business loan.
