The U.S. Department of Agriculture  announced Wednesday that it will begin investigating beef prices. The action comes after a fire shut down production at a Tyson meatpacking plant in western Kansas. Corinne Boyer of the Kansas News Service has more.

As Kansas prisons struggle with overcrowding and a lack of staff and resources, the Kansas Department of Corrections is asking outsiders to take a look at the state’s criminal justice system.

On Wednesday state Representative Jim Neely from Cameron announced his bid for Missouri governor.

New laws take effect in Missouri Wednesday, including one that helps survivors of domestic violence, stalking and sexual assault.  Now, they can break a housing lease without having to pay excessive fees.
