  1. U.S. Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas says he supports research into possible links between mental health and gun violence – with some limitations. KMUW’s Nadya Faulx has more.
  2. Kansas has hired one of the country’s largest private prison companies to house hundreds of inmates. Yet CoreCivic has been dumped by Colorado, Texas and other states amid growing opposition to corporate corrections.
  3. Missouri’s State Auditor Nicole Galloway is officially running for governor. As St. Louis Public Radio’s Jason Rosenbaum reports, the Democratic official will likely face GOP Gov. Mike Parson next year.
