This week on the ‘Crimson and Gold Connection’ we hear from Associate Professor at Pittsburg State University, Dr. Chris Anderson one of the organizers of the 200th birthday celebration to honor Walt Whitman. Whitman was born on May 31, 1819 in Long Island, New York. Over his 72-years of life Whitman was a an poet, essayist, and journalist writing about conversational topics such as sexuality, religion and nationalism.
One of Whitman’s best known works is the 137-page poem ‘Song Of Myself’ which will be read out loud at his 200th birthday celebration.
